Crude Awakening

I headed off to London this morning with the intention of photographing at the Crude Awakening Environmental event

Sadly, I was defeated by a failed train just before Barking with came to a halt within yards of the station platform for more than an hour and a half. The driver announced that there was an electrical fault and that we’d be moved as soon as possible & that we were awaiting another train to connect to the one I was on

Rather unfortunately that took over an hour and a half, by which time some travellers had opened the doors using the emergency releases and walked along the 50 yards of track-side to the station platform

When the train ultimately did get to Barking, I’d just about had enough so I headed back home again

All in all a somewhat unsatisfactory day

(Although a climate activist putting stickers on the inside of the train, did comment that it was probably stopped by the Police so that no-one else could get to the refinery blockades near Stanford-Le-Hope. Apparently the (or a) previous train was delayed or cancelled as well)

Brighton Lewes Road Community Garden

Representatives of the land owners again tried to evict the occupiers and members of the local community who have built a Community Garden on the site of the old petrol station on Lewes Road Brighton. The attempt commenced at 7AM today

After negotiations between the community, the bailiffs and Sussex Police, the bailiffs and security left without securing the site so the matter remains ongoing

Given that the Parliament Square eviction took place at 1AM – wonder if they’ll follow the same approach ?

Lewes Road Community Garden Brighton Lose Appeal

The occupiers of the site of the proposed new store in Lewes Road have lost their appeal against eviction from the site

It’s now expected that representatives from the landowners will arrive soon to start clearing the site and removing the garden. Currently it’s rumoured that Tesco are interested in buying the land for another Express store – even though it’s immediately next to an existing and long established Co-Operative store and other small shops
